Why

Travelers face many trouble and misunderstanding because they are not familiar with the culture that they are traveling to.

How

Helping travelers to understand what NOT to do will open a whole new opportunity to experience the new culture of the country that they are interacting with.

What

A traveling app that educates the tidbits of the culture, also provides the hidden local places to add in itinerary, while serving a strong basic itinerary feature.

Exploration

Problem Discovery

While brainstorming for a "Know, Feel, Do" exercise on travel, my teammate and I realized our focus was on restrictions. This led us to explore the idea of 'cultural restrictions' more deeply.

This presents an opportunity to address a sensitive topic in a fun and educational way.

Spoke to 9 people from different culture, with many travel experience.

We mainly asked the questions about cultural norms they encountered, and challenges they faced due to cultural differences.

Ideation

Userflow

It is a traveling app and education app at the same time. Tidbits are the main feature, positively informing what NOT to do in certain culture. The userflow was established in a way that education comes first, so that users can be exposed to the tidbits before they travel.

Ideation

Lo-Fi

The UI prioritizes essential features that users can stay in one app as they explore cultures and enjoying their travel journey. Playful elements add a friendly approach, creating the education aspect more engaging.

Validation

User-Testing

9 Participants

100+ Insights and Feedbacks

Each interview took about 20 minutes, observed that testers struggled thought the different styles of the button, long UX writing, and the interaction on the map.

"I didn't know that."

"I didn't know that."

"I didn't know that."

We also were able to find that all testers said "Oh I didn't know that. This is very interesting." This is the phrase that they said as they went through the tidbits in different cultures.

Final Design
